Warmth is Relative
Queen P. :I found myself in Sacramento, California, June 5th, 114 degrees Fahrenheit, a new place, and surrounded by strangers. How to break the awkward silence in the elevator? Bring up the weather! The response I received was not what I expected. Instead of being happy because of the sunshine the well-dressed woman raised her eyebrows and moaned. The man next to her responded similarly.
Last weekend, March 10th, in Rexburg, Idaho, 53 degrees Fahrenheit, the streets were flooded with active people. Many community members and students were wearing short sleeves, and shorts! Conversation about the beautiful sunny skies was to be had everywhere!
Three months difference and 66 degrees cooler; the largest variance, attitudes were much warmer. Warmth is relative.

Chris King : I agree that warmth is relative. Body homeostasis optimizes physiological functionality in a particular condition. For instance, living in high altitude promotes more quantity of red blood cells production which deliever oxygen to organs in the body. High altitude region has less air density that contains less oxygen in the atmosphere. Body detects the change in oxygen level in the atmosphere that promotes more quantity of red blood cells in the blood so that body can provide enough oxygen in each organs. I think that body response to the change in temperature that the physiology in the body adapt to the change. In Rexburg, our bodies are more optimized in low temperature. So, even in mild temperature, I think that our bodies recognize that the temperature is a little bit higher than our optimized temperature. I think that the idea is reasonable.
Kevin : For some reason, I don't like the weather in California. In the summer it never changes and is always sunny. I love raining. However, I do not like Idaho weather, either. The winter is too long. I wish I could live in a place which has four seasons and winter is not so long and so cold. In my opinion, the emotion associated with weather comes from a different background. My parents taught me to like the rain because they were rasied on farm and rains are good for the plants.
