Olive Garden: A Review
Kevin: The Italian restaurant, Olive Garden in Idaho Falls, is perhaps one of the most popular restaurants around the south east Idaho. I have been there two times this semester and the restaurant gave me two different experiences. Early semester, I went there with a huge group, perhaps around 20 students to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The experience was terrible. Although we called them ahead, we ended up waiting half an hour to be seated. We then spent about 45 minutes to order and wait for our food. After the food, we then waited about another half hour waiting for the waiters there to go through our checking. However, the second time, I went there it was around 9:00 pm and we just waited about 5 minutes. So if you decide to go there, go there super early or super late to avoid the long and boring waiting time. Another tip is that if you decide to go there, avoid going in large groups because it will take forever. Waiting time is definitely one of my criteria and I will give 3 points out of 5 for the waiting time.
The food overall is really good there. I love their bread especially and I think it maybe the only reason I would go back. I like the idea of serving bread before the main dishes. And when the main dishes came, our stomachs were all most filled up with hot bread with butter and the best thing is that they allow you to take any bread left back home. I ordered the sea food combo pasta two times. For the seafood combo pasta, they cooked pasta with butter, milk, shrimp and shellfish. And it taste great. Since I am a big fun of sea food, I think that they did an awesome job and it is even better than some seafood restaurants in the San Francisco bay area. The main dish came with either salad or soup and the salad could be refilled. For the food, I would give 4 points out of 5 points total.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is great when there are not too many people. However, it seems hard to find a time when there are not so many people around. When there are a lot people, it is really noisy and we had to shout to each other to make ourselves heard. So the second time, I went there at 9 pm and brought a date, which worked great. For the atmosphere, I will give only 3 points out of 5 points totally.
Overall, I will give them 4 points for the waiting time, food, atmosphere and the service in the Olive Garden.
