Pigeon anyone?
Kevin : There are many things that I miss in China. One of these is food. It seems that variety of the food on American people's table is so limited. For poultry, people only eat chicken, what else? Maybe a little bit of turkey on Thanksgiving and that is it. But, how about add few more? Ducks, gooses and even pigeons?
Pigeon meat is quite expensive in Asia and many people think that pigeon meat can improve people's immunity. At least, that is what I was told when my neighbor get her cancer cured by adding pigeons.
Here, I saw different culture differences between China and United States. In China, we think that wild animals are good. So we like to hunt rabbits, birds and other animals. In the United States, people like to eat only farm raised animals such as cows, pigs and chickens. I think many American people are so misinformed. In the animal farm, farmers feed some many drugs to the animals to keep them healthy. However, the crowded area and small living place will get them very sick. Probably, that is the reason that the rate of American people who get cancer is higher than any other country. Of course, industrialized food helps to lower the cost of living but they also bring many other problems.

Chris King: I am from South Korea, but we don't eat pigeon. In the countryside, we have some chicken farms that raise chicken in the mountain to make it wild. Entire mountain is fenced that none of other predators can invade in the mountain. The meat f these chicken is much more tender, muscular, and less fatty. I've never tried a pigeon, but I bet it would taste great. I am not sure about the immunity and relativeness to the cancer issue, but I do agree that diversity of ingredients highly affects the fitness and health of human. For instance, I see more frequent allegy responses in western population than Asian population. Not many Asians are allegic to peanut and dairy products, and the degree of response is also minor. I believe that the diversity of ingredients in Asian food culture contributes to the health in somehow.
Queen P: Whoa, whoa, whoa you two! Pigeons, are RATS of the air! The only time I put eating and pigeon in the same thought, I envision eating in San Francisco and being pestered by the scavenging flying rats. Kevin, American's eat lots of wild animals, deer, elk, sage grouse, just to name a few. Although you may argue our farm fed animals are artificially developed to be more meaty making the birds more synthetic tasting, I must disagree. Our poultry is not required to digest garbage flavoring the meat. I raised steers, and what we fed them directly effected how their meat tasted. Eck. Pigeon.
